On behalf of the entire Hutten team, we want to congratulate you on taking this first big step!
Our goal is to make the design and construction process as smooth as possible for you, your family and your neighbours. Here’s an in-depth look at the steps you can expect to go through with our team as we create a landscape that goes beyond your expectations.
When you’ve first made contact with the Hutten team, whether through our online form, phone or email, we’ll respond to you within one business day.
If there’s a mutual fit between you as a client and Hutten as a company, we’ll move ahead by sending you a questionnaire to find out more about your vision for your landscape project. While you fill it out, our team gets to work researching any relevant information about your property.
This first step sets the stage for a successful design and gets you and our team thinking along the same lines!
Before moving ahead with design, your account manager will contact you by phone to further explain the process, discuss design fees, budget and timing, and finally, schedule an in-person meeting at your home.
At this in-person meeting, a Hutten designer will come to your home at the agreed-upon time. Here’s what you can expect to happen:
At the end of your meeting, a design cost estimate will be provided. This is typically between $1,500 and $5,000 but can be a larger sum for large-scale projects. Your account manager will then send a detailed proposal to you. Once this proposal is signed and a deposit paid, the design phase begins!
Your first design concept will be reviewed at the Hutten design centre in Owen Sound. You’ll meet with your designer and review sketches, 2D drawings or 3D visualizations, depending on your preference. You’ll also have a chance to look through our portfolio further and take a closer look at material samples so that you get even more inspired.
With your valuable feedback in our hands, we begin revising the design as we work towards finalization. At this point, we can also book your construction project with a small holding deposit if you’d like to plan ahead and avoid scheduling delays.
Together, we’ll revise details where needed to make sure we get your vision just right. When we have your final approval, a detailed quote is provided to you. Expect to find details on all architectural plans, plantings, lighting and more!
Next, you’ll have a hand-off meeting with your designer and account manager, who will introduce you to your project manager. Your project manager will now be your point of contact for any questions or concerns you have.
When you’ve paid your construction deposit and finalized a date for us to start construction, all you have to do is wait. In the meantime, we’ll look after applying for any relevant permits, order any custom materials and make sure you stay up to date on everything that’s happening!
Once the scheduled construction start date arrives, our crews will set up everything we need on-site. Your project manager will meet with you two to three times a week with updates — and you can reach out to them by phone or email at any time. Every two weeks, a progress invoice will be sent to you, which is due upon receipt.
When everything is finished, your project manager will walk through your property with you. And we’ll take another Polaroid photo you can hold onto as a keepsake! Your final invoice will be sent at this time.
To fully enjoy your landscape as the years go on, we recommend opting for a Hutten property care package, details of which will be shared with you in an aftercare package. This package also includes an overview of warranties, as well as basic care, if you’d prefer to look after it yourself.
